When Peace Agreements are not the Solution

Wednesday, June 4, 2014

However, these rebel leaders often sign and then proceed to fight, such as the conflict unfolding in South Sudan. Thus, it is clear that this delusion of a peace agreement has cost the continent thousands if not millions of lives.  It is that calculus that has led to Machar, a rebel commander being treated like a rock star, with all his demands being met, because African leaders do not want to do what they know is the only solution to the South Sudanese conflict is regional military intervention.
