Kendrick Lamar accepts the 2018 Pulitzer Prize for music
AP | California rapper Kendrick Lamar has accepted the 2018 Pulitzer Prize for music.
The announcement was made in April, but on Wednesday, Kendrick Lamar attended a ceremony at New York City’s Columbia University to accept his Pulitzer Prize for music for his 2017 album “DAMN.”
The 30-year-old is the first rapper to receive the award.
In addition to the recognition, Lamar will take home a US$15,000 prize.
“It’s an honor,” he said on the official livestream of the event. “I’ve been writing my whole life, so to get this type of recognition — it’s beautiful.”
