Coco Gauff Donates $250,000 to Support HBCU Student-Athletes
Tennis star Coco Gauff has donated a total of US$250,000 over two years to the United Negro College Fund (UNCF) to support student-athletes at Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs).
Her latest US$150,000 contribution will fund the Coco Gauff Scholarship Program, which provides financial aid to collegiate tennis players at HBCUs. This follows a US$100,000 donation in 2025, which launched the initiative and helped award scholarships at schools including Alabama A&M, Howard, and Tuskegee University.
The UNCF praised Gauff for her commitment to education and opportunity. “Coco is more than a champion on the court. She’s a champion for education and the next generation of leaders,” the organization said.
Gauff highlighted her family’s deep ties to HBCUs and emphasized education’s transformative power: “I hope this gift will help students achieve their dreams.”
Maurice E. Jenkins Jr., UNCF’s executive vice president, called Gauff’s support a powerful message for young leaders, underscoring the importance of resources for success in academics and athletics.
