H. James Williams named Fisk University President

Monday, December 10, 2012

Fisk University has selected a college administrator from Michigan to be its next president.

H. James Williams (pictured), is the incumbent Dean of the Seidman College of Business at Grand Valley State University in Allendale, Michigan, and the founder of a consulting practice.

Williams’ administrative assistant told The Associated Press last week that he had been selected. Fisk University officials declined to comment.

Fisk President Hazel O’Leary, who was energy secretary in the Clinton administration, is retiring December 31.

Fisk University has faced financial struggles and recently won a court battle to sell a stake in its modern art collection donated by painter Georgia O’Keeffe.
