UWI Open Campus and the University of Quintana Roo (Mexico) To Pilot Joint Spanish Training initiative
(Press Release) – The University of the West Indies (UWI) Open Campus and the University of Quintana Roo are pleased to announce the pilot of an intensive twenty (20) hour Introductory Spanish Language training program to be held at The UWI Open Campus Saint Lucia site from June 19th to 30th , 2017.
The “Spanish Summer Program for Beginners” is the first of an ongoing series of courses that will be offered by the University of Quintana Roo through The UWI Open Campus, as a result of an historic memorandum of understanding (MOU) signed in June 2016, between the 2 institutions.
Free of charge to the first 15 persons who sign up, the jointly offered “Spanish Summer Program for Beginners” is designed to provide students with a language tool useful for both personal and professional development. It is also intended that students develop communicative strategies to improve their competence in Spanish in the context of Mexican culture.
The course will be taught directly from the University of Quintana Roo, using a mix of online and video conferencing, delivered via the Open Campus’s Blackboard Collaborate online learning platform.
Designed for anyone interested in gaining basic competence in the speaking and writing of Spanish, the course is especially useful for persons who interface with Spanish speaking individuals in the course of their daily workplace interactions, as well as students planning to study in Spanish speaking countries.
No previous knowledge of Spanish is necessary
