Robert L. Johnson donating art to African American Museum of History and Culture
Serial entrepreneur Robert L. Johnson is donating several works of art from his privately owned Barnett-Aden Collection to the museum of African American History and Culture which is scheduled to open early 2016.
According to a news release, Johnson has been collecting fine art since the 1980s and has assembled a private collection of more than 250 pieces of artwork by 19th and 20th century artists.
The Barnett-Aden Collection, which documents the struggles and achievements of African Americans, from the National Museum of African American Art in Florida in 1998.
