Jamaica rolls out a national health card for all citizens in January 2013

(Jamaica Gleaner) – Jamaica will be rolling out the National Health Card before January 31 next year.

The country’s Health Minister, Dr Fenton Ferguson, said there were a few glitches in meeting the November target date to start using the National Health Card. According to Dr Ferguson, the Cabinet Office has asked for additional information from the Ministry of Finance and the Attorney General’s Department.

He said the National Health Card is a well-needed initiative, which will reduce the level of abuse of resources in the health sector.
