In the first half of 2025, African fintech leader Flutterwave processed US$1 billion in cross-border transactions between Africa and Asia, driven by strategic partnerships with East Asian payment providers Norafirst and Skyee, the company announced.

The milestone underscores Flutterwave’s accelerating global expansion. Enterprise payment volume rose 20 percent year-on-year, while June 2025 margins doubled the 2024 monthly average, fueled by operational efficiency and cost optimization.

Regulatory advancements included securing 20 new U.S. Money Transmitter Licenses—bringing the total to 34 – and strengthening operations in Ghana, Senegal, Cameroon, and Zambia. The firm also completed its first full organizational audit aligned with international financial standards.

CEO Olugbenga Agboola said the company is “building a business that outlasts the hype,” positioning African innovation at the forefront of global fintech.

Key H1 2025 partnerships include:

  • Chapter AI: Enhancing social commerce tools for SMEs across 11 African countries.
  • Global Remit: Expanding Send App remittance services to the UAE, UK, EU, and U.S.
  • Circle: Enabling stablecoin settlements for enterprise merchants.

Flutterwave’s Send App has also relaunched in Europe – tapping into one of the largest African diaspora markets – positioning the company to capture a share of the World Bank–projected US$690 billion remittance flow to low- and middle-income countries in 2025.

With surging transaction volumes, expanded licensing, and renewed European access, Flutterwave is solidifying its role as a leading global payments infrastructure platform and a flagship success in Africa’s fintech revolution.
