Dangote eyeing more investment in Zambian market

With Dangote’s first cement plant in Zambia set to be completed later this year, a senior company executive has said that plans for another new plant in the central African country are on the horizon.

The Dangote plant under construction is located in Masaiti district (Copperbelt Province) in the north of the country and will have a production capacity of 3,500 to 4,000 tonnes of cement per day.

This new plant will make Dangote Cement the biggest producer in Zambia and is in line with this emerging cement major’s impressive regional expansion drive. Furthermore, Monica Musonda, executive director of the company told reporters that Dangote Cement intends to open another plant in the capital city Lusaka once the the Masaiti plant reaches an advanced stage of completion.

The company aims to capture a 40-45 percent market share in Zambia, following the completion of the Masaiti facility.
