After stepping away from the NFL, Colin Kaepernick has been involved in various new endeavors, following his initiation of kneeling during the national anthem in 2016 to raise awareness about police brutality and racial inequality.

Kaepernick’s most recent initiative is focused on assisting other storytellers, leveraging AI to accomplish this objective. He secured US$4 million in a funding round spearheaded by Alexis Ohanian’s Seven Seven Six to establish Lumi, an AI-driven platform.

“The majority of the world’s stories never come to life. Most people don’t have access to publishers or platforms, or they may have gaps in their skill sets that prevent them from creating,” he said. “We’re going to see a whole new world of stories and perspectives.”

Kaepernick revealed that he encountered numerous challenges while setting up his own media company, Ra Vision Media, and publishing company, Kaepernick Publishing. He pointed out issues such as lengthy production timelines, substantial costs, and creators not retaining ownership of their work.
