Mozambique rises from the ashes
Once marred by conflict, Mozambique is slowly emerging as a popular tourist destination as people are drawn in by the tropical weather, beautiful beaches and rich culture. Mozambique’s capital, Maputo is a vibrant and cosmopolitan city bursting with lively sidewalk cafes and jazz venues.
The civil war in Mozambique ended 19 years ago, and the country has registered steady growth and is one of the fastest growing economies on the African continent. The Mozambican economy grew by 7.1 percent in the first half of 2011.
Mozambique may soon become one of the main producers of natural gas in Africa due to the natural gas reserves discovered recently (estimated at 10 trillion cubic feet) .
