The newly-elected chief prosecutor of the International Criminal Court (ICC), Fatou Bom Bensouda, has been named ‘Person of the Year’ by Gambia Newsand Report weekly magazine.
Ms Bensouda is a native of Gambia and has formerly served as Attorney General and Justice Minister.
Swaebou Conateh, the proprietor of the weekly magazine, cited her “exemplary strides” at the ICC as the reason for the award. Ms Bensouda had previously worked as a senior legal adviser at the Tanzania-based UN International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda.
