David Lammy is renowned for his outspokenness within the Labour party’s frontbench and has had a stint as a host of a national radio show until recently.

He has now taken on a prominent role as the UK’s foreign secretary, a significant position within the government.

Born in London to Guyanese parents, the 51-year-old grew up alongside his four siblings, primarily under the care of his mother after his father departed when he was 12 years old.

Lammy’s academic journey began when he secured a choral scholarship at the age of 10 to attend The King’s School in Peterborough. He pursued his higher education at the SOAS School of Law, earning an LLB (Hons) degree in 1993. Notably, he made history as the first black Briton to attend Harvard Law School, where he later forged a friendship with former US President Barack Obama.
