Antigua & Barbuda’s Browne Wins Fourth Term in Landslide Victory

Prime Minister Gaston Browne secured a landslide fourth term last week, with his Labour Party winning 15 of 17 parliamentary seats, preliminary results show. The main opposition United Progressive Party took just one seat.

The election was dominated by economic concerns and unease over U.S. visa restrictions. Browne, who has led the twin-island nation since 2014, called the outcome “a resounding mandate” and urged national unity.

“We are here to serve all the people of Antigua & Barbuda,” he said, pledging equal access to education, jobs and business opportunities. “No one will be left behind who is willing to move forward.”

Browne cautioned against triumphalism, saying the contest is over and it is time to focus on productivity and further development. “We must stand tall in every forum,” he added. “We must not cower to anyone.”
