African American and Latino households hardest hit by decline in retirement savings

Race and Retirement Insecurity in the United States serves as a companion to National Institute on Retirement Security July 2013 study, The Retirement Savings Crisis: Is It Worse Than We Think?, which documented a significant retirement savings gap among working-age households in the United States.

This research is based on an analysis of data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics and the U.S. Federal Reserve and analyzes data for whites, people of color and, where data permits – African Americans, Latinos, and Asians.
