Usain Bolt Named Global Ambassador for Jamaican Tourism
Olympic legend Usain Bolt has been officially appointed as the global ambassador of the Jamaica Tourist Board (JTB), reaffirming his commitment to promoting the island-nation and supporting efforts to reduce poverty.
The announcement was made by JTB Director of Tourism Donovan White during the Board’s 70th Anniversary Celebrations at Devon House in St. Andrew on Thursday evening.
“I will continue to represent my country to the best of my ability,” Bolt said, thanking the JTB and government officials involved in the partnership. “We’ve got a deal – but we’re working on making it a lifetime one.”
His remarks drew laughter and enthusiastic applause from the audience.
Bolt emphasized the importance of showcasing Jamaica on the global stage, underscoring his personal mission to uplift the country that helped shape his success.
“Supporting your country is vital,” he told The Jamaica Observer. “One of my biggest goals is to promote Jamaica so we can help reduce poverty and elevate our nation. This is home – and I’m proud to do my part.”
In his address, Tourism Minister Edmund Bartlett praised Bolt as a distinguished national icon whose contributions extend far beyond sport.
As JTB’s new global ambassador, Bolt is set to play a pivotal role in amplifying Jamaica’s presence on the world stage – keeping its flag flying high.
