Tanzanian entrepreneur Reginald Mengi honored for his philanthropic contribution

Tanzanian entrepreneur Reginald Mengi, who also happens to be one of Africa’s richest men with a fortune estimated by Forbes at US$550 million is the east African country’s Tanzania’s most prominent philanthropist. Every year, Mengi sponsors at least 100 children with severe heart conditions to obtain life saving surgeries. He also finances a scholarship programme that pays the fees of hundreds of destitute Tanzanian children through primary to tertiary education.
For his efforts as an entrepreneur, and his philanthropic pursuits in the areas of education and healthcare, he has been awarded the International Order of the Lion by the the world’s largest service organization – The International Association of Lions Clubs.
According to the organization’s local district (Uganda, Tanzania) Governor Wilson Ndesanjo, Mengi, was honored for his “selfless dedication to humanity and a determination to labor for the public welfare”.
