Nigeria’s president has appointed most of the members of the new Cabinet.
President Goodluck Jonathan told the newly appointed ministers at the presidential palace in the nation’s capital Thursday to be transparent and to bring “significant improvement to the economy.”
World Bank Managing Director Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala will leave the institution next month to become Nigeria’s first Coordinating Minister for the Economy and Minister of Finance.
A new ministry of communication technology has also been created.
Several ministers from Jonathan’s former cabinet returned to their old portfolios.
Jonathan had formed a Cabinet in April 2010 when he was acting president, a month before President Umaru Yar’Adua died from a debilitating illness. After completing Yar’Adua’s term, Jonathan won April polls.
