Guyana: Police investigate assassination threat on President David Granger

Police in Guyana have confirmed that they are investigating a threat to the life of President David Granger.
This will be the second time this year, that police have officially disclosed investigations of such gravity.

According to local media reports, the threat which was made earlier this month, originated from behind the walls of a prison.

Guyana’s Director of Prisons Gladwin Samuels confirmed that an inmate from the Lusignan Prison called the emergency 911 number and reportedly told the operator that he would kill the president when he – the inmate – was released from prison.

Active police chief, David Ramnarine, informed reporters that significant progress has been made in the investigation – however, declined to provide more details.
