Ghana’s Sangu Delle nominated for the 2016 African Young CEO of the Year award
The founder and CEO of investment holding company – Golden Palm Investments – Sangu Delle has been nominated for the Young CEO of the Year award in the 2016 African CEO Awards.
Delle, who was named Africa’s young person of the year in 2014, by Forbes, beat out a crowded field that includes: Uganda’s Ashish J. Thakkar – the founder and CEO of the Mara group; Nigeria’s Jason Njoku – the founder and CEO of iROKO partners – Africa’s largest distributor of digital content; and Nigeria’s Gossy Ukanwoke, – the founder and CEO of BAU Research and Development.
This will be the first time the African CEO Awards will be awarding the Young CEO of the Year. This award, which is in partnership with General Electric, is awarded to a CEO under 40 who leads an African business that shows great promise according to the following criteria:
– the CEO/ entrepreneur should be under 40 years of age on the 1st of January 2016;
– the CEO should be an African national (a citizen of any of the 54 African countries);
– the CEO should be running a business that is recording significant growth in numbers and operations over the past 2 years;
– the business should be making a strong positive economic, social and environmental contribution to the lives and communities it is located in; and
– the CEO should be an individual with great potential for further growth.
The African CEO Awards event honors the achievements of CEOs and companies in Africa that have positively impacted the lives of people and contributed to the economic well-being of the community. The “Young CEO of the Year award” category has been introduced and will recognize the achievements of a young and upcoming CEO.
A press release issued indicated that the Africa CEO Forum AWARDS honor companies and investors whose strategies have demonstrated their commitment to play a part in Africa’s growth over the past year.
The event will be held on 21 March 2016, and will be presided by Akinwumi Adesina – the current President of the African Development Bank (AfDB).
