Ethiopian Airlines Revenue Hits $4.4 Billion in First Half of 2025/26, Up 14%
Ethiopian Airlines, Africa’s largest carrier, generated US$4.4 billion in revenue during the first half of the 2025/26 fiscal year. This represents a 14 percent year-over-year increase, exceeding internal targets by two percentage points.
The Addis Ababa-based group transported 10.64 million passengers (up 11 percent) and 451,000 metric tons of cargo (up 19 percent). It added seven modern aircraft and new routes to Porto, Hanoi, and Abu Dhabi, expanding its network to 145 international destinations.
CEO Mesfin Tasew credited the growth to network expansion and higher flight frequencies. The results highlight the airline’s resilience amid persistent industry headwinds, including regional conflicts, global aircraft supply shortages, and restrictive U.S. visa policies.
This performance reinforces the carrier’s progress toward its Vision 2035 strategy, supported by ongoing development of the US$12.5 billion Bishoftu International Airport transit hub.
