Outgoing Chairperson Debbie Wasserman Schultz resigns amid Wikileaks email scandal

Donna Brazile has assumed the role of Democratic National Committee (DNC) chair following the resignation of Debbie Wasserman Schultz.

Shultz was forced to step down following the Wikileaks publication of DNC e-mails, that raised questions on if the party leadership was actually neutral behind the scenes in the primary between Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders.

Brazile has been serving as the DNC vice chair for civic engagement and voter participation. She is also a political strategist and commentator for ABC News and CNN.

A graduate of Louisiana State University (LSU), Brazile is also the recipient of honorary doctorate degrees from LSU, North Carolina A&T University and Xavier University in New Orleans. She will lead the Democratic Party through the remainder of the 2016 election.
