Dangote Cement launches production plant in Congo Republic
Dangote Cement Plc. – a subsidiary of the Dangote Group – has further increased its production capacity across the African through the completion of a new manufacturing plant in the Republic of Congo.
The new facility at located at Mfila on the outskirts of the capital Brazzaville, will produce 1.5 metric tons of cement per annum.
According to the Ganapathy Bala, Director of Operations, Dangote Cement Congo SA, Dangote Cement Plc., which invested US$350 million into the project is the latest entrant into the country’s cement industry.
Prior to Dangote’s entry into the Congolese market, the industry was dominate by non-African firms – Cimaf, Sonocc and Forspal, with combined capacity of 1.05 million metric tons. Dangote’s entry raises the country’s total production to 2.55 metric tons.
Construction of the Dangote Cement plant began in 2014, and will be fully operational at capacity by July 2017. It is expected that the plant will create up to 1,000 jobs.
