Congressional Black Caucus: Goals with Record 62 Members
The Congressional Black Caucus (CBC) will enter the next Congress with a record 62 members, contributing to an unprecedented 67 Black lawmakers in total. This milestone underscores growing Black representation in U.S. politics.
With the Trump administration incoming, the CBC’s focus has shifted. Initially prepared to support policies under a Kamala Harris presidency, the caucus will now prioritize holding President-elect Trump and his allies accountable.
“We’ve always been the conscience of Congress, regardless of leadership,” said Rep. Gregory Meeks, D-N.Y., emphasizing their commitment to amplifying marginalized voices and challenging harmful policies.
Founded in 1971, the nonpartisan CBC advocates for Black and marginalized communities, addressing voter rights, healthcare, education, jobs, and criminal justice reform.
