Cameroon reinstates actions to combat COVID-19 resurgence
The Cameroonian administration has unveiled a series of fresh initiatives aimed at safeguarding the nation against a potential uptick in COVID-19 cases, mirroring trends seen in regions such as Europe, the Middle East, and parts of Africa.
In a communique issued by the Health Minister, it was stipulated that all inbound travelers will now be obligated to complete identification forms upon arrival at airports.
Screening protocols will be reinstated at airports, with particular emphasis on pilgrims returning from Mecca.
The government is also reactivating measures that were in place during the height of the COVID-19 outbreak, such as the mandatory wearing of masks for individuals exhibiting flu symptoms, maintaining good hand hygiene, and the regular sanitization of public spaces.
Furthermore, the administration has assured that it possesses the requisite resources to identify new cases and provide free medical treatment nationwide.
Cameroon’s first COVID-19 case was reported in March 2020. As per the Ministry of Public Health, the disease has claimed 1,974 lives out of over 120,000 confirmed infections within the country.
