Aliko Dangote recognized by the Africa-America Institute

The Africa-America Institute (AAI) has recognized the extraordinary dedication and pioneering achievements of Aliko Dangote, founder, President and Chief Executive Officer of the Dangote Group at the AAI 2016 Annual Awards Gala on Tuesday, September 20, in New York City.

This year’s theme is “Education: The Key to Africa’s Economic Growth“. The Awards Gala recognized the extraordinary and unparalleled commitment of individuals and African countries for their collective contributions in promoting workforce development, economic growth and prosperity across the African continent.

The 2016 awards honors Dangote, for his role in championing African entrepreneurship, greater business and investment in Africa through his company’s global brand and his commitment to expanding regional integration on the continent.
As Africa’s foremost industrialist, Dangote continues to devote resources to contribute to Africa’s growth and development.

Other honorees included Ali Moshiri – President, Chevron Africa; Sunil Benimadhu – Chief Executive Officer of the Stock Exchange of Mauritius and Stephen Hayes, President and CEO of the Corporate Council on Africa.

Dangote, who earlier this month, was asked by the US Chamber of Commerce to co-chair the chamber’s US-Africa Business Center, was in October 2013, named by Forbes as the Most Powerful Man in Africa.

The Awards Gala also shone the spotlight on African nations that are championing economic growth and job creation through regional integration.
