Valerie Montgomery Rice to be inaugurated at 6th president of the Morehouse School of Medicine

Dr. Valerie Montgomery Rice who was appointed the first woman to lead Morehouse School of Medicine a little over a year ago, will become inaugurated as the sixth president of the institution on September 11.
Montgomery Rice – an obstetrician and gynecologist, will on the same day launch a goal of US$1.5 million in scholarships.
According to a press release, she is spearheading a Presidential Scholarship Fund to support the next generation of health care professionals and help students of the Morehouse School of Medicine deal with the rising cost of education.
“I am excited about this new chapter not only for me but for this great institution of Morehouse School of Medicine,” said Montgomery Rice. “The community has joined me in support of our students with investments to the Scholarship Fund. Our talented students are working to become the next generation of health care leaders, and these scholarships help them reach those goals.
Her inauguration will be attended by delegates from all the historically black colleges and universities (HBCUs) accross the United States.
