Zanzibar launches Blockchain Sandbox to aid tech startup growth
Tanzania’s semi-autonomous Zanzibar, has launched a National Blockchain Sandbox to give startups a secure environment for exploring and developing innovative technologies before scaling up. This initiative, created in collaboration with LedgerFi IT solutions and powered by the XinFin XDC network, aims to drive local innovation and establish Zanzibar as a regional technology hub.
The sandbox will provide startups with a safe space for experimentation, along with opportunities to collaborate with industry experts, participate in pilot projects, and receive mentorship. Startups developing impactful solutions will also have access to specialized training and incubator programs to enhance their technical capabilities.
With government backing and access to these resources, startups in the sandbox are expected to increase their competitiveness, improving their success rates in both local and international markets.
This initiative is particularly valuable for Pan-African entrepreneurs, who often face challenges when expanding across the continent. Zanzibar’s government hopes the sandbox will help reduce the typical friction between the public and private sectors in Africa.
