The 2013 West Africa Business Expo launched in Ghana

The 2013 West Africa Business Expo to be held in Accra, Ghana on September 5th and 6th has been launched under the theme: “Kick Starting and Sustaining Business Growth”.

According to Nana Akrasi Sarpong, the Acting Director of Communication and Public Affairs at the country’s Ministry of Trade and Industry, Expo 2013 would help visitors explore and discover business opportunities presently available in Ghana and the West African region as a whole.

He added that it would widen the scope of entrepreneurs in the global market, adding that “because of the Expo, today we have business owners who are better informed and educated to run their business effectively”.

“It is a fact that entrepreneurial activities have been the engine that drives our economy in Ghana and by extension Africa. Entrepreneurship has been the source of employment, income generation for households and revenue and thus impacting positively on growth in the region.”

Ghana, a country experiencing phenomenal growth is keen to expand its private sector and has put in place incentives to encourage entrepreneurship.

The Mahama administration is in the process of making adjustments to the Export Development and Agricultural Investment Fund to provide funding directly to support the growth of private sector and will attract both local and regional investments.
