Tata Consulting Engineers awarded contract by Dangote Group for its proposed fertilizer plant

The Dangote Group has awarded Indian engineering company, Tata Consulting Engineers, a contract to provide project management consultancy services for its new US$1.9 billion fertilizer plant.
The proposed plant will have an initial prodution capacity of 2,200 tonnes per day (TPD) of ammonia and 7,700 tonnes per day of granulated urea and will be largest fertilizer plant in Nigeria, and by extension Africa.
“We are happy to partner with the Dangote Group which is one of the most diversified groups in Africa and known for its business excellence and quality products. We will ensure that we meet the Group’s expectations in delivery excellence and on time project completion,” Tata Consulting Engineers Ltd., Managing Director J P Haran said in a statement.
Tata Consulting Engineers services for the Dangote Group will include: review engineering, construction management, quality management, health and safety management and project management services, during the construction and commisioning phases of the fertilizer plant.
The awarding of the contract to Tata Consulting Engineers, came after the Dangote Group signed the contract for the construction of the largest fertilizer plant in Africa with Italian company, Saipem, it added.
“We trust Tata with this project as we believe they have capabilities to handle such a large scale project with multiple dimensions. Our ultimate goal is to build a world-class plant that meets the highest global standards,” Dangote Group President Aliko Dangote said.
Tata Consulting Engineers is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Tata Sons Ltd., and offers engineering services from concept to commissioning in key industry segments such as power, nuclear energy, chemicals, infrastructure, industrial, mining and minerals, steel, metals and construction management.
