Tanzania’s economy expanded by 6.4% in the third quarter last year

(Reuters) – Tanzania’s economy expanded 6.4 percent in the third quarter of 2011 compared with 6.7 percent a year earlier, with growth was driven by the mining, agriculture, transport and communication sectors, official data showed on Monday.

Tanzania’s National Statistics Bureau said the mining sector grew 1.5 percent in the third quarter againat a 12.3 percent contraction in the corresponding period in 2010.
