Shell accused of fuelling human rights abuses in Nigeria

Royal Dutch Shell has been accused of funding armed gangs in Nigeria, this is said to have fuelled human rights abuses in the country.
The oil giant is implicated in a decade of human rights abuses in the Niger delta. Its payments to fueding militant groups exacerbated local violence, in one case leading to the deaths of 60 people and the destruction of an entire town.
