The government of Rwanda has signed a strategic partnership with American comedian and television host Steve Harvey’s company, BILT LLC, to promote tourism and investment in the country.

The agreement was formalized in Kigali by Francis Gatare, CEO of the Rwanda Development Board (RDB), on behalf of the Government of Rwanda, and Steve Harvey.

The collaboration aims to foster skills development in film, media, and education, promote health and wellness initiatives, and establish an academic institution under Melt Education, Harvey’s education company, according to the RDB.

Harvey has shown a growing interest in Rwanda, having visited the country twice in the last two months. Most recently, he participated in the International Automobile Federation (FIA) Awards and General Assembly, which brought together over 800 delegates in Kigali.

Rwanda’s tourism sector has demonstrated significant growth, with revenues increasing by 36 percent, from US$445 million in 2022 to US$620 million in 2023. The government is targeting tourism revenues of US$800 million by 2024, underscoring the sector’s pivotal role in Rwanda’s economic development.
