Tyrone Wilson, founder and CEO eMedia Interactive Ltd

Jamaica’s Tyrone Wilson is the founder and CEO eMedia Interactive Ltd – the first new media company in Jamaica. The 26-year old Wilson founded the company in 2008.

Under his stewardship, the company has grown from producing electronic format magazines (eZines), to launching the Caribbean region’s first online television network, iVu TV, offering free ad-supported and premium on-demand streaming of shows, movies and webisodes (internet series) on computers and soon-to-come mobile apps and connected TV sets.

iVu TV is has began to provide new income earning opportunities for members in the film industry in Jamaica and the Caribbean at large. Opportunities have been limited, and Caribbean content has in the past suffered from lack of international exposure. iVu TV has began to change this. With the Internet, viewers from all over the world are now able to view Caribbean content.

Wilson is an alumnus of the University of The West Indies, where he earned his Bachelor’s degree in banking and finance.

Tyrone Wilson has been honored as one of the ’50UnderFifty Business Leaders Shaping Jamaica’s Future’ by the Private Sector Organization of Jamaica and The Jamaica Gleaner, in celebration of Jamaica’s 50th year of Independence; and received the Caribbean Journal’s Entrepreneur of the Year 2012 award.
