Michael Tubbs elected Mayor of Stockton
Michael Tubbs was earlier this week elected Mayor of Stockton, California.
The 26-year-old Tubbs becomes the city’s first African American mayor, and the youngest candidate elected to the position. He defeated the incumbent Anthony Silva.
Mayor-elect Tubbs, is a Stanford graduate who interned at Google and the White House. He decided to go back to his hometown to help make a difference after his cousin was killed at a Halloween party in 2010. For the past 3 years, he has served on the City Council, working to bring health clinics to his district and improve the relationship between the community and the police.
