LIME rolls out 4G HSPA+ network in St. Lucia
LIME (Landline Internet Mobile and Entertainment), the Caribbean business of Cable & Wireless Communications, has launched 4G HSPA+ mobile data services in St. Lucia.
LIME rolled out its HSPA+ mobile data network ahead of its planned commercial launch to enable customers to monitor the progress of Tropical Storm Chantal which passed the island on 9 July. Users were able to access instant messaging, storm tracking apps and global positioning satellite services.
LIME had previously offered limited mobile data services through its 2G EDGE network. The new mobile data network uses 4G HSPA+ technology and provides download speeds of up to 10 Mbps on smartphones and other data-enabled devices.
