John Rolle Reappointed Governor of Central Bank of The Bahamas
John Rolle will serve a third term as Governor of The Central Bank of The Bahamas, ensuring continuity as the nation addresses economic headwinds. His reappointment is effective January 1, 2026.
Rolle, a career central banker first appointed Governor in 2016, is credited with steering the country’s monetary policy through a period of significant innovation, including the launch of the digital Sand Dollar. His extended leadership signals government confidence in his financial stewardship.
With a tenure at the bank dating to 1990, Rolle’s expertise is bolstered by international experience. He served as a Senior Advisor at the International Monetary Fund and was The Bahamas’ Financial Secretary from 2013 to 2015.
He holds graduate economics degrees and the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation.
The Central Bank stated his reappointment provides stability to navigate global uncertainty and domestic financial priorities.
