Jamarlin Martin and his rapidly growing Moguldom Media Group expanding to Africa
In 2006, currency trader and blogger Jamarlin Martin saw the opportunity to develop an online business focused on African Americans and their interests. He started Bossip to talk about black musicians and athletes and to report regularly on Barack Obama before his presidential bid.
This month, Martin was named Ernst and Young’s Florida entrepreneur of the year in services for building a company that boasts more than half a dozen websites, US$20 million in annual revenue and 75 full-time employees, including some in Africa.
Martin who started the company with US$6, expects his Moguldom Media Group, now based in Fort Lauderdale, to reach $100 million in annual revenue and 400 employees in 5 years.
