Jamaica: Montego Bay Free Zone records growth – expanding to meet new demands

Employment at the Montego Bay Free Zone in Jamaica has attained over 20 percent growth – a considerable number in the recently concurred financial year.
In a bid to accommodate this growth, Montego Bay Free Zone Co. Ltd – the company that runs the zone intends to create more facilities for businesses that provide Information Technology and Communication services – a move aligned to the island-nation’s drive to have Jamaica as the IT hub of the Caribbean.
Jamaica’s Technology Minister Phillip Paulwell said last last year, that overall demand for IT space in Jamaica amounted to 750,000 square feet. – This number is expected to rise, given that the country is aggressively positioning itself as an outsourcing center.
