Freelancer – the outsourcing marketplace launches in Jamaica
Freelancer.com, one of the world’s larger outsourcing and crowdsourcing marketplace has launched in Jamaica with Freelancer.com.jm.
This is set to create an optimistic atmosphere among entrepreneurs in the Jamaica – where over 6,000 new businesses are registered every year.
“The digital world is a great equalizer. We see people from developing countries competitively working side by side with the western world,” said Freelancer.com chief executive Matt Barrie.
“Freelancer.com.jm will allow entrepreneurs and freelancers from Jamaica access to over 3.7 million professionals from around the globe,” Barrie continued.
Freelancer.com.jm will allow Jamaica users to transact using their local currency and build a strong local community.
Freelancer.com services such as the milestone payment system, hourly projects, and financial dashboard are also available for Freelancer.com.jm users.
Freelancer.com.jm was officially launched by Freelancer.com’s vice president of engineering, David Harrison at Digital Jam 2.0, a three-day event staged by the government of Jamaica in collaboration with the World Bank, Jamaican private sector ICT companies, and international development partners.
The event was themed “The Future of Work is Online” and provided Freelancer.com the perfect place to launch Freelancer.com.jm.
