Claudja Williams launches RateBee: Jamaica’s comparison source for financial products
Claudja Williams, founder and strategic director of RateBee
Are you a Jamaican or international investor in Jamaica or in the diaspora looking and shopping for the best interest rates, most suitable bank fees, mortgages, foreign exchange rates, or loans? Then RateBee is the site for you.
RateBee, an interactive site which allows users to compare and shop for the best rates, was founded by Ms. Claudja Williams – who launched the site on June 1, 2012.
Williams, was motivated to found RateBee after having observed that most Jamaicans and by extension investors are not aware of, and do not have a good understanding of the financial products available in Jamaica.
“Of the products they do know – savings accounts, fixed deposits, loans – they were not generally aware of how these products compare among financial institutions,” said Williams.
“They were not aware of which institutions offered the best rates and the lowest fees nor were they aware of the various institutions which carried the products they were seeking.”
Users can now search on RateBee for and compare local financial products including foreign exchange rates, auto loans, mortgages, home equity loans, personal loans, savings accounts, fixed deposits/Certificates of Deposit, and repurchase agreements or repos. Search results display all institutions offering the specific product, associated interest rates, estimated bank fees, the estimated monthly loan payment or estimated interest to be earned.
At present, RateBee does not attach any charges to the service for users and for the institutions whose information is featured.
