Charles Molapisi named MTN South Africa CEO as Godfrey Motsa steps down

Telecompaper | MTN Group said that Godfrey Motsa will step down as CEO of MTN South Africa from January 01 2022 and will be succeeded by Charles Molapisi, currently group CTIO.

Mazen Mroue, currently COO of MTN Nigeria, will replace Molapisi as group CTIO from February 01.
Mroue’s successor at MTN Nigeria will be announced in January.

To streamline responsibilities and reporting lines in the core connectivity business, Ebenezer Asante will assume the new role of Senior Vice President for markets, with overall P&L responsibility of the 3 regions West and Central Africa (WECA), South East Asia (SEA) and Middle East and North Africa (MENA).

Vice President of SEA Yolanda Cuba and Vice President for MENA Ismail Jaroud will remain on the executive committee and report to Asante from February 01.

Serigne Dioum will assume the streamlined role of group CFO from February 01.

The legal and regulatory functions on executive committee will be combined under Lele Modise in the revised role of chief legal and regulatory officer, effective February 01 2022. Felleng Sekha, current group chief regulatory and corporate affairs officer, will stay with the group until the end of April 2022 to ensure a smooth handover.

Nompilo Morafo has been appointed as the group chief sustainability and corporate affairs officer, with establishment on the executive committee from February 2022. Strategy and Transformation will move from reporting to the group COO to the group president and CEO. Chika Ekeji has been appointed as group chief strategy and transformation officer, a role to be established with the exco in February.
