The Caribbean Community (CARICOM) has congratulated the Government and people of St. Kitts & Nevis on their 42nd Independence Anniversary, celebrated on September 19 2025.

In a message to Prime Minister Terrance Michael Drew, CARICOM Secretary-General Carla Barnett praised the twin-island nation’s commitment to progress, regional integration, and sustainable development. Reflecting the anniversary theme, “Perpetual Progress – A Sustainable Future in View: Independence 42,” she noted it highlights the country’s achievements since independence in 1983 and underscores the ongoing effort required for sustainable growth.

Dr. Barnett commended St. Kitts & Nevis’ regional leadership and Prime Minister Drew’s role in advancing initiatives across Human Resource Development, Health, and HIV/AIDS within CARICOM. She also recognized his contributions to strengthening international partnerships, including co-chairing the Second Africa-CARICOM Summit on 7 September 2025.

“On behalf of the Community, I extend best wishes to the Government and people of St. Kitts & Nevis as you continue building on your legacy of resilience and excellence to foster peace and prosperity,” Dr. Barnett stated.
