Barbados PM Mia Mottley Named to Forbes’ 2025 World’s Most Powerful Women List
Prime Minister Mia Mottley of Barbados has been included on the Forbes World’s 100 Most Powerful Women list for 2025, marking her third consecutive appearance. She ranks 99th among global leaders in politics, business, and philanthropy.
The recognition underscores Mottley’s rising influence as a diplomatic leader and forceful advocate for climate action and economic reform. Forbes highlighted her role in Barbados’ transition to a parliamentary republic in 2021 and her prominent international advocacy, particularly for small island developing states.
Mottley, elected in 2018 as Barbados’ first female prime minister, has become a leading voice on climate finance and global debt restructuring. She was previously named a UN “Champion of the Earth” and featured on the TIME100 list.
The 2025 Forbes ranking, led by European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, evaluates candidates based on money, media, impact, and spheres of influence. The list spans 17 countries and includes women who collectively wield significant economic and social power.
