Aja Brown re-elected Mayor of Compton
Aja Brown, was last week re-elected Mayor of Compton, California for a second term.
The 35-year-old Brown, who was first elected mayor in 2013 at age 31 – the city’s youngest mayor – won about 60 percent of the vote – a landslide victory – defeating former Mayor Omar Bradley in last week’s election.
“Our unemployment rate has dropped from 18.5 percent to 7 percent so we are focusing on the last 7 percent to make sure Compton residents are involved in the beautiful restoration of our city,” Brown said.
Brown doubled down on her promises to “build a better Compton” in a post-victory statement on Wednesday.
