Africa’s Security Problem
The joining of Benin, Chad, Niger, with Cameroon and Nigeria in creating an 8,700 strong force to stop the Boko Haram is great news for the continent, particularly for the people of the Lake Chad Basin. The same must be done to stop any rebels or terrorist organization across the continent.
We cannot predict when rebels and terrorists will take up arm against their states, but we can control how we react to them. In the last decade, the continent has witnessed tremendous economic and political gains that we cannot allow to be reversed because of religious or political ideologies of few men with guns.
