Christopher Sinckler, the Barbados Minister of Finance and Economic Affairs, has assured Barbadians that the Four Seasons project is ready to move ahead.
The West Coast project has been surrounded by controversy and uncertainty following a halt to work on it three years ago. It is a project that promised a boost to construction, employment, promotion for the island’s tourism industry, and a general stimulus to the overall economy.
Following the settlements of outstanding debts of US$60 million to suppliers in November 2010, there was an air of optimism that work would have commenced in full. This has not been the case.
Nonetheless, it is expected that with the injection of funds from the Inter-American Development Bank (IADB) and possibly a loan from the National Insurance Scheme in Barbados, Four Seasons should be on the way in 2012.
