Sundra L. Ryce is the founder, President and CEO of SLR Contracting & Service Co. Inc.

Ms. Ryce founded the company – SLR Contracting & Service Co. Inc., in 1996 shortly after she graduated from college.

According to the company’s website, SLR Contracting & Service Co. Inc., is a full service Commercial, General Construction Company specializes in all aspects of commercial general construction, construction management, design-build services and safety & risk management services. Under her stewardship, the company has grown to become a multi-million dollar business – one of the largest black-owned businesses in the United States. Ms. Ryce turned a $US10,000 gift from her parents into a hugely successful company and business.

The company’s projects include US$26 million in construction for the Buffalo Public Schools; the complete engineering and design responsibility for the dismantlement of existing Nuclear Waste Vitrification Cell components to the construction of a new 24,000 square foot Military Entrance Processing Station for new recruits in Niagara Falls., NY., to name a few.

SLR Contracting & Service Co. Inc., ranked at number 87 on the Black Enterprise 100s Industrial/Service Companies in 2011.

Sundra L. Ryce is an alumnus of the State University of New York College at Buffalo, where she earned her Bachelors of Science Degree in Business Studies, and Medaille College, Buffalo, New York, where she earned her Master of Science Degree in Education.

She is an ordained minister and author and highly sought motivational speaker. She continues to serve as a trustee on the Amherst Chamber of Commerce board, and on the Buffalo State College Foundation Advisory Committee.

Ms. Ryce and her company have have received numerous awards including: SLR ranked at No. 7 of Top General Contractors – Buffalo Business First Magazine in 2011; “Women of Distinction” Award – NY State Executive Chamber in 2010; SLR ranked at No. 6 of the Top 100 Fastest Growing Inner City Companies in America by ICIC and Inc. Magazine in 2008.
