Largest HBCU, North Carolina A&T, launches Artificial Intelligence degree program
North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University (NC A&T), the largest Historically Black College and University (HBCU) in the United States, is proud to announce the launch of a bachelor’s degree program in Artificial Intelligence (AI).
This initiative represents a significant achievement for the university, positioning it as the first institution in North Carolina and one of the few nationwide to offer such a degree.
Students enrolled in this program will have the opportunity to specialize in one of two concentrations: Advanced AI Systems through the College of Engineering or Applied AI within the College of Science and Technology. Courses will be offered in both in-person and online formats to accommodate diverse learning preferences.
While several universities provide concentrations in AI, NC A&T stands out as one of the few institutions to offer a comprehensive, standalone program dedicated to this rapidly evolving field. Additionally, the university has plans to develop a graduate-level AI program in the near future.
“Artificial Intelligence and machine learning are increasingly part of everyday life with the potential for profound and far-reaching impact on virtually every facet of society,” stated Chancellor James R. Martin II in a recent press release.
