Guyana Designated as a high-income Country by World Bank
The World Bank has officially reclassified Guyana as a ‘high-income’ country, marking a significant milestone in its journey from economic hardship to global recognition. This achievement not only reflects the nation’s progress but also helps reshape its international image.
This upgraded status is largely attributed to a reassessment of Guyana’s economic standing, driven by its substantial, world-class oil discoveries. The newfound recognition highlights the country’s growing influence on the global stage.
Beyond Guyana, the World Bank has also revised the classifications of several other nations in its latest annual review, based on their economic performance over the past year.
